Deep Trance as experienced by Lin, can be summarized as a state in which his ordinary level of consciousness (personality) is put aside, and a spiritual Presence overshadows his consciousness.
This can be thought of in different ways: as his Higher Self and/or a group of spirit teachers working with and through him in trance. In the context of Spirit Teachers, he has an awareness of one teacher that he considers his primary or Master teacher, and then other teachers are interlinked with that teacher.
Lin (in his personality) has almost no memory of what transpires during trance, but he does retain a sense of a very clear, joyful inner happening that is a blessing to his own sense of self, as well as a blessing to those present in the session. This is the same for both group sessions and for individual sessions. Distance doesn't matter to Spirit, so phone sessions functions very well.
Historically there are many forms of trance. Somewhat like the Electromagnetic Spectrum, in which visible light is just a small narrow band of frequencies. The larger band contains all the known (and perhaps the un-known) frequencies, which is what modern science is looking into. In this simple analogy, deep trance channeling can be thought of analogous to the visible light spectrum - small part of that which is possible.
We might use another analogy, one in which we can view the lowest levels of fear-based thinking as bottom end of a spectrum of human potential. And the other end of that spectrum ranging into deep insights of the Unity of Consciousness. The latter end of the spectrum we can only hint at, in terms of expanded states of being. The majesty and depth of our connection with God/Goddess/the Universe or Divinity goes far beyond mere words. It is something we are all anchored in, but our personalities are just slightly aware or that aspect of our Deepest/Highest self.
There have always been examples throughout history, of a variety of individuals who could enter into an altered state of consciousness that transcends ordinary consciousness. If we could then envision an extremely large range of consciousness, of which mankind is capable of expressing, they would extend from rather limited mind/emotion states to extremely awakened states of awareness.
This range of consciousness (shall we call it from human to Divine?) would include deeply fearful thinking and feeling states of being, to exalted levels of awareness. The latter of which has been exemplified by many mystics, sages and seers over the ages. There have probably been many such individuals we have no recorded history of, but Jesus and Buddha are two well known bright examples.
In no way do we wish to imply that deep trance represents an ultimate range of awareness. It is generally just a higher, more insightful level of awareness than we (as ordinary human beings) normally exhibit. One amazing facet of trance is the deep compassion that is present.
The well recorded body of work through Edgar Cayce in the trance state, manifested over a 45-year period, represents some of the finest examples of trance channeling. Ranging from sessions primarily directed to helping people with a variety of forms of medical problems – to exalted, deep insights into the functioning of Humanity’s evolution of consciousness. A deep concept of mankind’s emergence into an awareness of the Divine. His trance work gave a clear look at the Divine Romance that life is offering to us all.
